Went here for my 2 year anniversary as this was supposed to be our original first date. The staff was super friendly and helpful. We got some sushi and had teriyaki from the stake house side. The sushi was very good and would come back again for that. However the chicken fried shrimp I got was awful. The rice tasted like soy sauce and the shrimp and chicken were so hard. Would not recommend but if you like sushi, I would highly recommend it!

We're from California so trying to find a good sushi place out here that taste like sushi from California has been a struggle but this place here is absolutely hits the spot! Found my new spot. Their service was GREAT. Stayed on top of drink refills. Love the vibe!

There was great service. I had the hibachi and a Philly roll. It was really good and my 4 year old enjoyed the show that the chef put on. It seemed to be a clean and well taken care of establishment.

Since moving to the KC area, my wife and I have been on a mission to find a decent hibachi experience. So when we checked out Mr. Sushi's Japanese Steakhouse, we were pleasantly surprised--it was a big step up from what we've seen around town. The chef put on a solid show, more fun and entertaining than most, with all the classic tricks: onion volcano, shrimp toss, and some jokes sprinkled in. It wasn't quite a "standing ovation" performance, but it was lively, and we definitely enjoyed it. The food started off strong, too. I had the filet and shrimp, and my wife went with the scallops. Everything was cooked just right--the filet was tender, the shrimp and scallops were flavorful, and the veggies and noodles were spot on. But then, we got to the rice, and things took a dramatic turn. For some reason, our chef had it out for that fried rice. He went to town on it with the pepper grinder like he was trying to ward off evil spirits. It was as if he had a vendetta against rice and decided the only way to make it right was to bury it in pepper--a total spice overload. The rice went from a hibachi staple to almost inedible in a matter of seconds. Thankfully, the yellow sauce came in as the hero of the night. A generous pour of sauce helped tame the pepper storm, making the rice edible again--sort of like extinguishing a small fire. Despite that seasoning mishap, the meal overall was tasty, and the show was fun. Mr. Sushi's might not be the most jaw-dropping hibachi you'll ever have, but it's definitely the best we've found in the area so far. We'll be back, with one tip for our chef: let's go a little lighter on the pepper next time, and it'll be a perfect night.

A party of seven. We were promptly seated and beverages served within a few minutes. There was PLENTY of help at the tables and bar. Empty bowls were removed quickly. The young ladies were attentive refilling water and sodas. The salad is simply head lettuce but let me tell you, the delicious salad dressing MAKES IT! The miso soup was hot and mighty tasty. We all ordered hibachi. One mahi mahi, two chicken, two chicken & shrimp and two shrimp. Our chef was enthusiastic and entertaining. The experience was a lot of fun for all of us. And the food could NOT have been better. Portions are MASSIVE and all left with to go boxes with another serving or TWO!! We look forward to returning again soon.
